Alright, so I have official written my first work of fiction. Okay… maybe not, but the first really serious piece that I have written. Many of you may have noticed the new links on the sidebar titled “Clarity” and Commentary on “Clarity.” The one titled “Clarity” is the actual work itself and other is the commentary I have provided to, in essense, tell about how the work was written and the themes and symbols it contains. This will probably interest those of you who write. I must say, I have never done anything like it before or even wanted to do anything like it before, but this project was a requirement for my world literature class and I learned so much in doing it. Basically, we were given a literary artist and had to immitate his or her style in a modern piece. I recieved Cervante’s Don Quixote (ironic, right?) and so I chose to do my piece in the narrative genre. Don Quixote is extremely disillusioned and so I created the modern-day disillusioned businessman living in New York, and the rest is history. It’s a pretty complex piece, if I may say so myself. Everything is thought out. Every sentence was written for a reason, so examine it carefully and try to see if you can see how the main character (I chose to give him no name for a reason) is disillusioned. Comments would be greatly appreciated.
